Radio Communication Example for
an IFR Flight from RCSS to RCKH

MDA494 is going to take an IFR flight from Songshan aerodrome (RCSS) to Kaohsiung aerodrome (RCKH). Following example shows a full picture of radio communication between the ATCs and pilots during the flight.

Phrases marked with frames would be variable under different situations.

Basically, a departing flight would be handed-off between ATC positions as following sequence, Delivery → Ground → Tower → Approach → Control. However, smaller airports may not have Delivery or Ground; in case, make the initial contact with Ground or Tower, respectively.

On VATSIM, if DEL, GND and TWR all are not online at the time, initially contact Approach. If there is no Approach as well, initially contact Control. If there is no ATC, self-announcement on UNICOM (122.8MHz) is required.

Step 1) copy ATIS

Songshan Airport, information ALPHA, 1530Z. Expect ILS approach runway 10. NOTAM (eg. runway or taxiway closed). Wind 090 degrees 15 knots, maximum 27 knots. Visibility 10 kilometers or more. Clouds few 1000 feet, broken 3000 feet, overcast 8400 feet. Temperature 28 Dew Point 15. QNH 1018 hectopascals. No SIG. Departure frequency 119.7. Inform Taipei Approach or Songshan Tower on initial contact that you have information ALPHA.

Step 2) After copying the ATIS message, make you initial contact with Songshan Ground (or Delivery if this position is on service) for IFR clearance.

MDA494: Songshan Ground, MDA494 at bay 22 with information ALPHA. Request IFR clearance to Kaohsiung aerodrome, FL140.

Step 3) When ready to block out, call Songshan Ground for pushing back.

Step 4) When ready to taxi, request taxi clearance

Step 5) Contact Songshan Tower, which is in charge of runway usage in an airport.

Step 6) Contact Taipei Approach for the en route services in terminal area.

Step 7) Contact Kaohsiung Sector of Kaohsiung Approach for the services in terminal area of the destination.

(If the destination airport has ATIS, pilots should copy it and report the designator on board to the approach. Since VATSIM does not provide the weather information of other airports, such as RCFN, we will omit this part.)

(On the first contact with Tower during arrival, Tower would report surface wind and QNH, and pilots should read back QNH. Since VATSIM does not provide the weather information at other airports, such as RCFN, we will not mention about the weather here.)

松山(RCSS)至高雄(RCKH)儀器飛行無線電通訊範例

本文件為華信494號班機(MDA494)透過儀航程序自松山(RCSS)至高雄(RCKH)全程的無線電通訊範例。

通常一架離場的航機會以下述順序接受航空管制的服務:許可頒發席(Delivery)→地面管制席(Ground)→塔臺(Tower)→近場管制臺(Approach)→區域管制中心(Control)。一些規模較小的機場中並沒有許可頒發席或地面管制席,在這樣的情況下地面管制或塔臺將會是離場航機最先聯繫的席位。

在VATSIM中,若塔臺以下的席位皆未上線,請聯繫該區域的近場管制臺請求本場服務;若近場管制臺亦未上線,則向該區域的區管中心請求終端區域的服務。若該區域無任何上線的管制員,則在UNICOM(122.8MHz)與其他同區域的飛行員協調。

以下範例中,底線標示部份代表其內容將根據實際狀況而有所不同。

步驟 1) 抄收ATIS (終端資料自動廣播服務)

並非所有的機場都有ATIS。在有提供ATIS的機場,飛行員應抄收ATIS報文並告知本場管制員所擁有的報文版本。若機場無ATIS (如豐年機場),管制員將於離場航空器滑出前告知相關資料。

步驟 2) 抄收ATIS後,聯繫松山地面管制席 (Songshan Ground) 申請儀器航行許可 (IFR clearance) 。 (在有許可頒發席的機場中,儀航許可需向許可頒發席申請)

步驟 3) 當準備好後推時,向臺南地面管制席申請後推開車許可。

步驟 4) 後推開車完畢後,申請滑行許可。

步驟 5) 當接近起飛跑道外等待點時,根據地面管制席指示後聯繫塔臺。塔臺為負責本場跑道利用與機場航線管制的席位。

步驟 6) 航空器升空後,根據塔臺管制員指示聯繫近場管制臺。近場管制臺提供航空器在終端區域飛航的管制服務。

松山塔台席: 華信494,換台北離場管制119.7聯絡。

當巡航空層高於FL200或為國際線航班時,近場管制臺會將航機交接至區域管制中心,由區域管制中心繼續提供管制服務。惟本例中,航空器僅在飛航空層140巡航,故只會在不同頻率的近場臺間交接。

步驟 7) 接近目的地機場之終端空域時,利用機上另一套VHF無線電抄收目的地機場的ATIS,高雄ATIS 127.8

步驟8) 根據航管指示聯繫高雄近場席,該席位將提供到場終端區域的服務。

台北近場席:華信494,換高雄近場管制124.7,再見。
